The above image depicts one of my very
favorite locations in all of Florida. The communities of Bal Harbour, Bay
Harbor Islands and Surfside; are nicknamed "Bal-Bay-Surf".
The quaint
Town of Surfside
is located between 88th and 95th Streets and is only 1 square mile in land
mass. Surfside is framed by the Atlantic Ocean to the East and
The Intracoastal Waterway to the
west. The Town of Surfside zoning-
permits buildings not to exceed 12 stories! Surfside is comprised of several
luxury condominiums on the ocean as well as several attractive condominiums
and multi-
family rentals scattered between Collins
Avenue and Harding Avenue. The bulk of Surfside real estate consists of single
family homes between Abbott Avenue and Irving Avenue. The commercial district
of Surfside, runs along Harding Avenue
between 94th Street and 96th Street. There is a little known peninsula named
Biscaya Island Drive which is the western extension of 88th Street. Within
Surfside,
is the gateway to the most exclusive
Indian Creek Island- located at 91st Street and Bay Drive.
The Islands of Bay Harbor consists of
an East Island and a West Island. The East Island consists of condominiums,
many located along the Waterways that line East Bay Harbor Drive and West Bay
Harbor Drive. In addition, there are
many multi-family buildings and the shopping district of
Kane Concourse [Kane Concourse [96th Street], is home to many fine shops,
art galleries and fine dining
establishments. The West Island of Bay
Harbor Islands is comprised of only single family homes. Many of the
homes on The West Island are located along The Bay Harbor Waterway along East
Broadview Drive and along The
Intracoastal Waterway to the West- along West Broadview Drive. Bay Harbor
Islands connects to the mainland via
The Broad Causeway. The City of North Miami is
the connecting point at 123rd Street. The
Broad Causeway is a toll road and draw bridge that leads from the mainland to
the beaches.
The Village of Bal Harbour is home to
the world famous Bal
Harbour Shops - some of the finest designers and merchants such as Gucci,
Versace, Louis Vuitton, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman-Marcus and
many others call Bal Harbour Shops
their home base. Bal Harbour is world renown for the most luxurious
condominiums in The World; Majestic Tower, Bellini, One Bal Harbour, Bal
Harbour Tower,
The Seaview Hotel, The Kenilworth, The
Palace and a few others as well. Bal Harbour also has a very exclusive section
that is located just west of Collins Avenue between 97th and 102nd Streets
known as Bal Habour Village which
consists of quaint multi-family buildings and single family homes- many along
the Waterway. At the center of Bal Harbour Village Estate is The Bal Harbour
Marina
where yachts in excess of 100 feet are
moored.
